THE METHODOLOGY OF IMAM AL-BUKHARI IN HADITH STUDIES AND ITS SCHOLARLY SIGNIFICANCE

This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the scholarly legacy of
Imam Muhammad ibn Ismail al-Bukhari, one of the greatest representatives of hadith
studies, with particular focus on his methodology in the selection and classification
of hadiths. The paper examines Imam al-Bukhari’s academic journeys, his teachers,
his strict criteria in the transmission of hadith, and the conditions he established for
narrators. It also explores the role of his renowned work “Al-Jamiʿ al-Sahih” in the
development of Islamic sciences. Furthermore, the article analyzes the influence of this
methodology on the works and approaches of subsequent hadith scholars.
