Abstract

The Iranian education system is centralized, divided into K-12 (school) and higher education levels. The system is overseen by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology. The Iranian population has a high literacy rate, with 97% of the youth being literate. The country has one of the highest student-to-labor ratios in the world. The higher education system includes undergraduate and doctoral levels, and major institutions such as the Universities of Shiraz and Tehran are major centers of scientific research.
