About the Conference

The Suomi Global Education and Leadership Conference (SGELC) is an annual international scholarly meeting devoted to educational innovation, educational leadership and the comparative study of school systems. The conference takes its name from Suomi - Finland - whose approach to teacher professionalism, equity and school autonomy provides the conference with its central point of reference.

Aims and Scope

SGELC welcomes theoretical, empirical and practice-based contributions in areas including, but not limited to:

  • Educational leadership, school management and governance
  • Teacher education, professional development and teacher well-being
  • Curriculum design, assessment and learning outcomes
  • Equity, inclusion and special educational needs
  • Comparative and international education; the Finnish education model
  • Higher education policy, quality assurance and internationalisation
  • Educational technology, digital pedagogy and artificial intelligence in learning
  • Lifelong learning, vocational education and adult education

Publication Policy

Every submission is screened for scope and originality by the Scientific Committee and then sent for double-anonymous peer review by at least two reviewers. Accepted contributions are published in the conference proceedings volume for the year in which they were presented. All contributions receive a DOI and are permanently archived.

Publication Ethics

SGELC follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices. Submissions must be original, must not be under consideration elsewhere, and are checked with plagiarism-detection software. Cases of plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate submission or undisclosed conflicts of interest lead to rejection or, after publication, to retraction.
